Through interaction with Community Organizations, students become integrated as prolific members of society capable of altering today’s world.
Building houses in Zárate
On October 15th, 16th and 17th 3 houses were built in ‘La Ilusión’ neighbourhood in Zárate, in the province of Buenos Aires, by the team effort of 2nd and 3rd year Senior School students, a group of voluntary workers for NGO ‘Un techo para mi país’ (A roof for my country) and members of the benefited families. Nowadays, approximately 450 families live in the area that was built and UTPMP has already built 53 houses in that neighbourhood.
Provided with theoretical-methodological tools by two specific subjects -
Project and Methodology of Investigation and Theory and Management of Organizations-, students planned and carried out throughout the year several actions to raise the funds necessary for building work:
• They made chocolate, puddings and cakes that were sold at school fairs and parents’ meetings.
• During the elections on June 28th, 2009, the students placed a table at the school with food and drinks they offered the voters, after the Electoral Authorities had granted them permission.
• A benefit fashion show was organized for UTPMP, with the help of different groups of students at Florence Nightingale School, who were involved in the prior organization, as well as in the activities that took place as part of this event.
• Spontaneous donations were requested and encouraged, with fundraising boxes with the logo of UTPMP placed all over the School, and personally getting to those people who had expressed their will to collaborate with monetary donations.
Throughout this stage, the support and generous cooperation of the whole educative community of Nightingale School was fundamental.
It gives us great pride to see that the three families have got their own houses! The building work process can be seen by clicking on this link:

•Collaboration with the Hospital Materno Infantil de San Isidro (Women and Children’s Hospital of San Isidro).

Every year, Florence Nightingale School community systematically carries out solidarity campaigns to collaborate with several institutions, according to the results of their needs analysis.
In 2008 and 2009, upon request of representatives of the Servicio de Voluntarias de Hospitales Damas Rosadas de San Isidro (Voluntary Service Workers of the Pink Ladies Hospitals of San Isidro), the school collaborated with the Women and Children’s Hospital by collecting school objects and materials for the School Aid programmes and also by providing special kinds of milk for all those children who were hospitalized.
